A history, of sorts

REX began life in 2010 as REO Expo: back then, a flood of bank-owned real estate was swamping many local markets, yet many real estate professionals did not have a venue open to all where they could learn how to list and manage distressed real estate.

Many existing industry conferences covering REO and short sales at that time were either closed-group in format, requiring (surprise!) hefty membership fees in addition to conference registration fees; other industry conferences had abandoned real estate and were focused instead on the broader landscape of loan servicing. REO Expo broke the existing industry paradigms and opened up new avenues for RE pros wanting to build their businesses in REO and short sales, quickly becoming the nation’s largest distressed real estate show in just two years.

In fact, we’ve hosted more than 6,000 industry professionals at the event in our first three years.

Now in our fourth year, as the real estate market recovers, we’re evolving REO Expo to meet the needs of our thousands of previous attendees and, indeed, the real estate market as a whole. We’ve dropped the “O” from our REO name — and REO Expo has become the Real Estate Expo, REX. After all, distressed real estate management is no longer a niche market, off in the corner on its own. It’s something that real estate professionals must manage and face each and every day, representing either buyer or seller.

In our first year under the REX name, we’re taking an innovative and engaging look at how technology is changing real estate, on all fronts: whether you list distressed real estate, represent buyers and investors, or manage more traditional real estate transactions. It’s all part of REX, and no other real estate industry conference will reach as far across the real estate spectrum to give attendees a look at the trends, tools and ideas that will move their businesses forward in 2013 — and beyond.
